Now that baseball/softball season is in full swing. What are some quick, cost effective meals for eating on the run during sports season?
With little to no preparation these quick and healthy meals can come together in a flash, Veggie Pizza, Creamy Pesto Pasta and Southwestern Chicken and Brown Rice Burritos. For recipes, click here.
What are some alternatives to sports drinks?
Sports drinks are only necessary for high-level athletes. For most adults and children, water is ideal. A great alternative would be “0” Calorie Sobe Lifewater, Vitamin Water Zero and water infused with fruit such as oranges, apples, and strawberries. Frozen fruits are also a great alternative when infusing water.
How do you feel about cleansing? What would be a healthier option?
There is no scientific evidence that cleanses help or are necessary. You can get better results by increasing your water intake and choosing foods high in fiber such as beans, whole grain pasta, fruits and vegetables. You should try to incorporate at least 25 grams of fiber into your diet, daily.
For those of us who have a sweet tooth, what would be a smart substitute to curb those sweet cravings?
An excellent alternative is yogurt that is low in sugar and fruits such as pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, kiwi, etc. There are no bad fruits out there. Fruits are naturally sweet and provide fiber as well as vitamins and minerals. Need that piece of chocolate? Choose dark chocolate, it’s loaded with cancer fighting antioxidants and flavonoids.
